My church is pretty cool. I love that I go to a church where I feel safe inviting my friends. The problem is it has reached it's capacity. Over the past couple of weeks, we've been talking about the fact that in order to grow, we need to have room to grow. We've reached our physical capacity. Often on Sunday mornings, we're so packed out, they put folding chairs in the isles and even some out in the hallway to watch the service on tv monitors. But, we haven't reached our God given capacity. We need to have room so that we can get more un-churched people at church. The next step for our church is to go multi-site. That means we'll be able to open up seats at our current building (which isn't even a year old yet!), allow people to attend church closer to where they live and work and have plenty of seating in the new facility for more people to come and learn more about God. Its a newer concept but all the cook kids are doing it these days so we know it can work. But, that all costs money. So, we've been a part of the Capacity Campaign at church. I love that my church even gets the kids involved. They were sent home with Capacity banks and these kids collected and earned a ton of money so that MORE kids could come to church with them. This past Saturday, Anna did an art sale/lemonade stand to raise money for the Capacity Campaign. She raised $54! Her art wasn't such a big hit but thankfully, we had some awesome customers that spent a considerable amount of money on her art. My friends Tim and Desi came by and got 3 pieces for $10, Dan came and got a picture that looks just like his dog, Sadie, and handed us a $10 bill and my mom and Stu's mom came by and spent $7 on lemonade and art. She also did a couple of pieces before Saturday and made $8 selling them to our friends Robert and Ashley and Melissa. Most of those people are from my Community Group at church...that's support, people! At one point, she was pretty bummed that more people weren't buying her art and she thought that if we put the lemonade away, it would sell better! Cute kid! Overall she made more money on her art than we did in lemonade and cookies so it all worked out. She was pretty proud of herself when I told her that! She worked really hard and even painted ALL day while we were outside! She also gave $3 out of her OWN piggy bank to add to the Capacity Campaign which is probably about 1/4 of what she had in there! It makes a momma proud!
Here are some of my favorite pictures from that day!
